Key identification features: This annual herb has leaves that are
broadly ovate. The plant produces axillary spikes and these spikes are
monoecious, with the rachis ending in a triradiate hood at the tip. Male
flowers are located above. Female flowers are situated below. Fruit is a
capsule.
Uses: The leaf paste is given as a cure
for asthma and brochitis.
